8 Under Practice tomorrow - some options
I hope everyone has had a great morning!
Coach Joe and I wanted to give everyone a heads-up about this season’s practice plan for our 8 & Under swimmers. We had planned to discuss this with parents today, but this crazy weather has thrown us for a loop.
The first couple of weeks can sometimes be tough for our younger swimmers with the cold weather, rain, and adjusting to a new routine. Because of that, this season will look a little different than in years past. Our goal is to provide more instruction, smaller swimmer-to-coach ratios, and a positive experience for every swimmer as they learn to love KRC in their own way.
We are excited to welcome several new swimmers to the team, and we believe this structure will help everyone get acclimated and build confidence. We plan to try this format for at least the first two weeks and then revisit it. As the swimmers become more comfortable, we hope to gradually add more instruction and practice time for the younger groups.
5–6 Year Olds
Practice will be split into two groups:
- Group 1: 8:30–8:55 AM
- Group 2: 8:55–9:20 AM
You may choose whichever group works best for your family. Please understand that we are organizing the groups this way to maximize the number of instructors available per swimmer. If we still have large groups we may look at assigning groups if needed.
7–8 Year Olds
- Practice Time: 8:30–9:15 AM (no change)
Swimmers in any group may move up or down between groups as needed.
Additionally, if any 8 & Under swimmers are interested in practicing with the 9–10 age group and are able to handle those practices, they may move up with coach approval.
Feeder starts next week, and if team practice time is still overwhelming for some swimmers, joining Feeder is also a great option.
See you in the morning! And if you have any questions please reach out.
Go KRC!
Coach Jackie
